The Sandlot All-Stars Are Victorious
Gilbert, AZ (Youth1) – Coming off two straight tournament championships this season, the Sandlot All-Stars looked to make it a 3rd straight and qualify for the World Series in the Winter
Nationals Super NIT Baseball Boys 10 and Under Major tournament.
The All-Stars got off to a good start in pool play, as both their bats and gloves did the job as they defeated the Dbacks Baseball Club 13-3. Up next for the All-Stars was the Fuego Baseball Club who recently came off a 6-5 opening game victory against Colorado. In a low scoring pitching duel the Fuego Baseball Club prevailed beating the Sandlot All-Stars 4-1, giving them a 1-1 record entering a pivotal game against Colorado.
In another low scoring game the Sandlot All-Stars bats drove in just enough runs, and their defense played well enough to give them the 5-4 win over Colorado. The All-Stars took their momentum into the final game of pool play, as they played the Colorado Hit Club. The bats were in full force for the All-Stars, as they drove in an impressive 14 runs en route to a 14-2 victory and a 3-1 record entering bracket play.
In the first round they were up against the Desert Dawgs, and they were able to eliminate them from the tournament with a 7-3 victory, to advance to the semi-finals against the Arizona Blaze. The All-Stars cooled the Blaze off, as they convincingly beat them 10-2, earning them a spot in the championship game.
The championship game featured a rematch between the Sandlot All-Stars and Colorado; And in what was predicted to be a close game, turned out the opposite. Both teams' bats were alive, but ultimately the Sandlot All-Stars prevailed, this time by the score of 11-7. With the win, the team earned their impressive 3rd straight tournament title.
Led by Head Coach Rob Gorrell, the Sandlot All-Stars roster is comprised of Jacob Alexander, Andrew Cardellini, Grant Gorrell, Jack Malone, Joe Mclaughlin, Kaeden Moore, Kai Murphy, Alex Palacios, Ty Sifferman and Carson Tucker.
